Achievements
:
Over the year we celebrate all manner of achievement: in the
classroom, on the sports field, in the swimming pool and across the
community.
Below are a few examples of pupils' individual
achievements:
We are very proud of our school teams who consistently
participate in a range of sports matches. This year our swimming
squads achieved a place at the semi-finals of the national schools’
swimming trials.
We enjoy taking part in community events and were pleased to be
a part of the local Christmas celebrations in the town centre again
this year. Pupils from Danesfield Manor make annual visits to the
elderly in our community, singing favourite songs and performing
small drama pieces.
Music and drama offer pupils excellent opportunities to build
confidence and public speaking skills. All our pupils perform in
school productions every year. This year the Key Stage 2 pupils put
on a great performance of ‘Mary Poppins' by P.L. Travers; the
dress rehearsal was again attended by special guests from our local
community.
There is an active school council, made up from pupil-elected
delegates from each class, which holds regular lunchtime meetings
to discuss issues important to pupils. These include issues in the
school – playground facilities, lunchtime, toilets, uniforms, etc.
– and the children’s role in the wider world.
The school council adopts a
charity each year, and organises sponsored activities in
support of its chosen charity. Charities chosen by our
School Council are:
- 2005/06 - Macmillan Trust
- 2006/07 - Lepra
- 2007/08 - Water Aid
- 2008/09 - Sam Beare Hospice
- 2009/10 - The New Jerusalem Children’s Home
- 2010/11 - NSPCC
