Sports Day 2016
Date: 30 June 2016
Location: Stompond Lane
It was a glorious day in the sunshine! The children in Nursery and Pre-School took their sports day seriously; ensuring their bean bags stayed on their heads, their eggs on their spoons and running as fast as they could to the finish line.
Towards the end, the stakes got raised as the highly anticipated staff and parents’ races took place. What a sight! Mrs Chalmers, Mrs Straker and the other staff showed off their team spirit and bolted towards the finish line with lots of cheering from the side lines. Double thumbs up to you all! You all deserved the ice lollies which the DPA treated you to.
Later in the day, the children in Reception to Year 6 took on their challenges at Stompond Lane with events such as long jump, triple jump, discus and tennis ball throwing. The children also engaged in dribbling footballs and skipping races.
Of course every sports day has running races and this one was no exception. Children represented their individual houses in numerous races; 100m, 800m and the relay. The children in the Upper Phase did an excellent job in the relay and the pupils should be extremely proud of themselves.
Congratulations to all of the children for their participation with particular mention to those in ‘Andrews’ who took home the most points and won the Sports Day 2016 cup!
