Carotty Wood

One of the ways we develop a child’s confidence and intelligence is through our annual trip to Carroty Wood. This is not an optional extra but an essential part of the curriculum which improves children’s performance and confidence back in the classroom. Academic intelligence is of paramount importance, but is just one of the intelligences that needs to be developed if a child is to achieve their full potential.

This trip is the highlight of the school year. We take all children from Year 0 to Year 5 to stay for between one and four nights in a residential centre in Kent. The older children take part in exciting outdoor activities. This encourages independence and develops trust between teachers and pupils. The children often make new friends and learn to respect each other.

Carroty Wood is also the culmination of the work covered in our science lessons throughout the summer term. In small groups, assisted by environmental specialists and with their class teachers, children explore topics covered in class.
